These one-of-a-kind hand-woven baskets are made by widows of the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. During the course of the 18-week slaughter, some 800,000 people were killed—almost 11 percent of Rwanda's population—and nearly 100,000 children were orphaned. For generations, baskets like these have represented familial bonds in Rwanda, and are the traditional gift for newlyweds and new mothers. Now these gifts take on an added dimension: they are a way to sustain the families themselves. Each basket you buy from the Business Council for Peace (Bpeace) allows a mother to feed her family for a month. The hand-dyed color of these baskets has been created exclusively for COLORS. The Summer Edition of COLORS magazine points to this web site and the Rwandan baskets that are for sale.

Did he listen to old pirate songs and shanty sing-alongs during the filming of "Pirates of the Carribean"? Lesson learned: who needs acting lessons, when you can use the power of music. I found the following info in the beautiful magazine Colors. Funeral Attendance:Ayatollah Khomeini, 1989: 10,000,000 Princess Diana, 1997: 1,000,000 Eva Péron, 1952: 500,000 Camaron de la Isla, 1992: 100,000 Elvis Presley, 1977: 75,000 Bruce Lee, 1973: 25,000 Marlene Dietrich, 1992: 1,700 Malcolm X, 1965: 1,500 Karl Marx, 1883: 11
