I made it...
It took almost 16 hours to get from Santa Fe to Manhattan...but I am here at last, in a hotel with free Wi-Fi. I guess I am too tired to go to sleep....

Music: Honking, a car alarm, airconditioning - sounds of New York
Mood: tired and glad

Righteous! The seller of the Pimentel guitar on Ebay has read my post regarding the history of the guitar and tried to link to it. Here is the permanent link to my earlier post. (tip: you can click on the OL logo to the left of any given day and bookmark that link. The link will take you directly back to that post, hopefully even months or years from now.....)

To the seller: No apologies necessary. I had a feeling you did not know. Good luck with the sale.

Thanks to Salma for letting me know.

From bad to worse
I am in Cincinnati, it is 6:30PM, and the flight that is supposed to take me to New York in an hour has been delayed, with a good chance of getting cancelled altogether. ""There is no other New York flight tonight, but we'll start up again tomorrow", the Delta person says much too cheerfully.

Ultra-lightest camp light [Cool Tools]
Brilliant! Cutting the torch down to it's essentials...light and power-source....

A funny -- and disturbing -- trend is popping up in the U.S. and in Europe: People are downloading phony alibis such as prerecorded traffic jam sounds, or even joining mobile liars' clubs, to pull one over on bosses and spouses. By Elisa Batista. [Wired News]
Yes on both accounts. Funny...and disturbing...

Traveling is so much fun...
Something wrong with the AA plane that was supposed to leave for Dallas a little after 9am - there is no direct flight to New York from Albuquerque. Everyone had to go back to the main ticket counter and make new arrangements. Instead of arriving in New York around 5pm, I will now arrive around 10pm. Guess that kills the 8:30pm dinner reservation at Tao I had been looking forward to for weeks...

Had to go through security again, and this time I was selected for special service - handsearch of all my luggage, another spread-eagle job, more wanding, more x-raying etc.

We have a real transportation problem on our hands in the USA. Does anybody see this? There is no high-speed train service and flights have been a nuisance for years now.

Toyota Prius
The other day I stopped at a red light on Cerrillos Road. I had my window rolled down and was listening to "Cositas Buenas" when the passenger in the car to my left started talking to me. "Amazing how fast that car is, isn't it?"

I looked very surprised and answered: "I am just thrilled with the mileage I am getting."

"They are also quite fast", the man claimed, "I had mine doing 130mph."

Is it possible? Should I investigate?

Assume the position...
...or, look like Jesus again, arms spread wide, feet on the marks...I got searched at the Sunport in Albuquerque just now. Happens every time. Apparently alcohol or certain vitamins in your system can set off the wand. Had to roll down my pants, which could have resulted in a $175 fine in the state of Louisiana. Felt like I was on stage, rolling down my pants in front of my fellow travelers. Check out my fine Diesel jeans!

Like some security expert said last month - probably more dangerous to visit a shopping mall these days than to fly...but people are scared and this seems to make them feel better.

I am on my way to the Big Apple for the week-end, where I am to play solo at a private party. In order to make this trip easier on me, I am trying a new method and shipped my guitar to New York via FedX. It arrived yesterday and is waiting for me.
