Timeline
Both "La Semana" packages, the DigiPak as well as the Limited Edition, left the factory yesterday, May 28th. They are to arrive in Santa Fe on Wednesday, June 2nd. I hope to have the LE boxes numbered and signed by Thursday afternoon, or Friday morning at the latest, at which point they will get transported to Albuquerque for shrink-wrapping. We hope to get them back in time for a Tuesday, June 8th official release, which is oddly enough the date I came up with many weeks ago, when we had to decide on an official date for publishing purposes.

Thanks for all of your suggestions. I especially enjoyed Dan's idea of giving those who pre-order the LE version access to mpeg files to ease the waiting....however, I have decided to release both versions simultaneously on June 8th. If we don't have the shrink-wrapped boxes back on Tuesday, they should be here no later than Wednesday, June 9th...

Next week will be a busy one as I have to learn to play some of the "La Semana" songs using just one guitar, I have to sign 2,000 LE boxes, and I am hopefully finalizing a new deal with a distributor that would put the new album into brick and mortar stores sometime in July or August. The LE version will only be available from us, of course.

Progress
I find it amazing that we collectively have this perception that we are progressing forward. With all of these technologies and gadgets that appear to make our life easier; is it really helping the human race progress forward?! Are we any happier than people were 4-500 years ago? Do we live longer than people did 3,000 years ago? No. Maybe we are so out of control, going in any direction, that we think THAT direction is forward. - Eric N • 5/28/04; 12:06:20 PM
Eric, I have to disagree with you. That we have the potential to live longer than people did a few hundred years ago is a fact - and we also get to keep our teeth longer...

I think it is also true that we have more time to be looking for fulfillment and happiness because of technology. It was not so long ago that people did not have time to be disenchanted - they had to scrape food together for their 6 or 12 children...Hey, look, I am not saying things are peachy, in fact I could come up with a long list of grievances, BUT when you look at the very big picture - things are improving, slooooowly.

In India they say that this universe is not the first, that each universe is created by an out-breath of Brahma, only to be destroyed when he breathes in. And during the millions of years between those breaths we get to play. Good guys against bad guys...pick your side and play as hard as you can, but don't forget it's just a big cosmic game, and the real destiny is self-realization. Remember to take time to smell the roses, to enjoy your own breath...all work and no play makes Jack a dull boy...

Anyway, in a couple of weeks you can sit back and, hopefully, enjoy "La Semana". Take a load off, rest a while and then get back into the battle...Namaste

What Makes a Flamenco Guitar? - article by Lester De Voe
We are all familiar with classical guitars and some of us have had the opportunity to play a flamenco guitar. I would like to explain what makes a flamenco guitar different from a classical.
PS: In this photo you can see that my fretboard is made from Rosewood instead of Ebony.
