German designer Karl Lagerfeld is so obsessed with the iPod, he's designed a couture case for carrying up to a dozen of them. Why? Because he needs just such a crate to transport his collection of 40 iPods. By Leander Kahney. [Wired News]
The article continues:
However, since Bowles' report, Lagerfeld has increased his collection significantly -- to 40 iPods. That's right, he now owns 40 iPods, according to the latest issue of French Elle. Modeling a silver jogging suit, Lagerfeld confesses to owning 40 of the devices. Although at first glance the reader may assume he means a single 40-GB iPod, he meant what he said: He has 40 iPods.

Lagerfeld has converted his collection of 60,000 compact discs to a unique iPod storage system, according to a recent report in Womens Wear Daily. Lagerfeld keeps most of the iPods scattered around his various homes, which, in turn, are scattered around the globe.
Yeah!! 40 iPods and around 600,000 songs? That'll keep you busy...I wonder how many people are ripping and cataloging the songs for him...

You are bidding on a custom built Pimentel Negra guitar made for and used by Ottmar Liebert. This is a solid spruce top guitar with Indian Rosewood back and sides. The back of the headstock is signed by both Ottmar Liebert and Pimentel with the inscription “Custom made for Ottmar Liebert by Pimentel and Sons 1990.”(See photo) Included as well is a copy of Ottmar’s CD with Luna Negra; Borrasca. The inside jacket of the CD is signed by Ottmar, with his inscription, “I used the Pimentel Negra on almost all trax of this CD. Enjoy! –Ottmar Liebert March 1995.”
The guitar is in excellent condition with playing wear on the top and back and one small repaired crack on the lower bass bout. The sound is big and bold with punchy basses and bright clear trebles. If you are curious of the sound of the guitar you can download tracks from the Borrasca CD.
Well, no, I don't think so, not really...this guitar does have a very interesting story, but one could argue that I never played it and certainly never recorded with it.

I used to have two guitars made by Señor Pimentel. One was made in 1989, and I used it on some of the songs for "NF", the other was made in 1990 and I used it on "Borrasca". A while later I flew to a friend's wedding in the Caribbean and Delta Airlines destroyed the 1989 guitar on the flight there. After my return to Santa Fe, Keith Vizcarra made a new guitar by attaching the neck of the 1990 guitar to the body of the 1989 guitar. This new hybrid was sold to a collector who was aware of the guitar's story. At his request I signed the guitar. Apparently the guitar changed hands at least a couple more times and it is likely that the current seller does not know any of this.

Depends on how you look at it, doesn't it? The neck was indeed used on "Borrasca", and the body was used on "NF", but the new hybrid was never used for recording, which means that the claim that you can hear the sound of the guitar on "Borrasca" is not really true.

Toyota Motor has reported a net profit for the year ended March 31 of $10bn, thus underlining the firm's status as the second biggest car manufacturer in the world - and closing in on General Motors. The profit is a 55% increase on the previous year and was achieved thanks to increased sales around the world and cost reductions. Toyota's aim is to get 15% of the global car market within the next 10 years. In 2003 GM sold 8.6m cars compared to Toyota's 6.7m but the US company made a profit of only $3.8bn for 2003. Toyota's market capitalisation is now bigger than that of GM, Ford and Chrysler combined. In the individual markets Toyota's growth is biggest in the Europe where operating profits were up 772%; in other markets (Asia, the Middle East and Oceania) where they rose 112%; in America where the growth was 39.6% and in Japan where it was a more modest 17.4%.
Unbelievable, amazing...I don't see Toyota slowing down any time soon either....
