Family Matters!
Thanksgiving in April
After spending such an incredible amount of time focused on Susie's book we decided to celebrate its completion last month with a get together with Jeff, Nicole and Nicole's mom Kathy. It was a lot of fun. I baked a turkey and we had a lot of wonderful food. It was so much fun being able to celebrate with them.
Update on me
After having ongoing problems related to my April 19th bike crash I scheduled an appointment at Kaiser yesterday morning. Sue went with me. It turned out to be an all day event. We pushed a bit to get new x-rays. I have 3 fractured ribs they did not find
when I went to ER after the accident! There is nothing they can do for that,
but I have a rib brace.
My major pain is in my hip but x-rays show no damage there. I am being referred to an orthopedic doc for more investigation into that. This has severely limited my mobility. I have a new appreciation for just how big the university I work at (SJSU) is now! For now I am supposed to rest, not exercise, and keep weight off my hip. So, now I am on crutches. He renewed my pain medication prescriptions. I am at work but feeling little pain.
Rest is not something I do well with. I am not happy about it. Also, he has extended my work restrictions to June 1st for now.
I had questions about why my Physical Therapy does not start until the 11th
after my accident on the 19th of last month. The doc thinks that starting
P.T. next week makes sense since he thinks if I started it sooner it would
have been too soon when I was in more pain.
He also sent me to DMV for a handicapped permit so I won't have to climb
stairs in the parking garage at SJSU.
I know compared to what other folks have been through this is minor stuff.
I was lucky. I guess I can catch up on movies.
