About twenty years or so ago

About twenty years or so ago, I worked at SJSU as a photographer. I was working in the darkroom of the Instructional Resources Center when another photographer knocked on the door. That photographer was a student who smelled the photo chemicals and wanted to know if she had stumbled upon a darkroom she might be able to get access to. That photographer was Janet.

Janet in San Francisco

We fast became friends. She was dating a young veterinarian in the area named Lee Morris. My first wife Candy loved animals and we had both dogs and cats in our tiny two bedroom apartment. So we had animals as well as photography in common, so we started socializing. At the time we had small kids and they had no children. The first time we went to visit them we walked in the front door of the place in Pacifica. They had a Parrot they were caring for. As soon as we walked in the front door the Parrot flew out the back. It was never seen again.

Even after that we visited them many times at the Pet Hospital they started in San Francisco. After awhile they had children of their own and we all got along great. About the same time Candy and I became estranged so did they. Janet and I remained close friends and were there for each other through all that. When Candy died Janet came from San Francisco to the hospital where I was with the boys in Modesto just to give me a hug. When she arrived I was asleep in Kenneth's room in the ICU, so she left, not wanting to wake me.

Janet and I had some great adventures paling around both Patterson and San Francisco. Then, she left for Ohio. Except for several times when she came back to visit. That is what happened last weekend when she came to the bay area with her boyfriend Chris.

Janet, Chris, Lee, Sue and I went to hear Janet and Lee's son Trevor perform with the SFSU choir in San Francisco. We had a great time!

In our communications Janet and I close with the salutation "FFL." That stands for "Friends for Life." That is what we are.
