News from Stavesacre.  The band has apparently parted from Nitro Records and plans (at least temporarily we assume) to release their next album independantly.

(they have MERCH on their site now, you know that gets me excited.)

Heard a bit on NPR this morning about the National Genome Project and the genetic similarities between men and women.  Apparently men and women are 98.5 percent genetically similar (or thereabouts).  That may seem like a lot, but according to the scientists, men have the exact same percentage of genetic similarities to male chimpanzees (98.5 percent).

I don't know what that's worth, but found it interesting nonetheless.

Have I ever told you about the childhood fear I had of unwound cassette tapes?  It was something about those shiny slivering ribbons dangling about that just drove me mad.  I remember specifically one dream (nightmare?) where I locked myself in the upstairs bathroom of my house and curled up in the tub while my sisters beat on the door taunting me with one.

Well, I've told you now.

Come back next week when I talk about dropping our cats into the garden pond in the backyard.

A panel of Hebrew scholars is claiming that the "Jesus Box" is a fraud, at least partial.  Although the ossuary itself is probably from the correct time period, they claim the inscription was added by a later person trying to imitate the ancient letters.

My gut is that they're probably right, but who knows.  I doubt there will ever be any unanimity on it, nor that it will matter one way or the other.

Quote of the Week (non-regular feature)

"Yeah, but you could be famous someday; I'll just be pushing pills"
 - My cousin Chris, a fifth-year pharmaceuticals student at Purdue after I said that his lengthier time in school would make him wealthier than me in the long run.
