Perhaps it is because the tragedy's second anniversary is coming up... but someone invited me to join a Yahoo discussion group about Janet Danahey today.
You remember Janet don't you? She started a fire on her ex-boyfriend's deck at Campus Walk apartments here in Greensboro on Valentine's Day 2002, killed four young folks dead, injured several others. She swears it was a prank, and I guess I believe her. But the kids are still very much dead.
She pled guilty and is serving life without possibilities up in Raleigh but the focus of this discussion group tends to think Danahey's sentence is too harsh.
Until I hear some commutation rumblings from the victim's families I will stay out of this one. I think it is too early to be thinking very much about Janet's fate... the hurt she caused is still very fresh and raw.
Give it time.
