Echoing my first call for council outcry back on Sept. 13 when it was discovered that the citizens of Greensboro had taken over management of our local hockey team, the N&R's editorial staff takes the City Council to task this past Saturday in and editorial titled "Amnesia about Homestead":
"...(t)he council's muted responses speak volumes. There is not only a dramatic absence of embarrassment and outrage, but no sense of urgency at dealing with the issue head-on
Council members may feel blessed that they aren't up for re-election this year. But if they continue to react, rather than act, on issues such as Homestead and the coliseum, it'll make little difference whether the election is this year or next.
The voter's memories won't be so short."
The majority of the editorial staff saw it differently back in September. As I said last week... timing is everything.
