I got a call today from one of the folks who has been pursuing the case before the N.C. Court of Appeals on the question of whether or not "baseball clubs-professional" can be allowed to operate somewhere other than War Memorial Stadium.  (Background here)

The Court of Appeals handed down an opinion today that doesn't answer the above question, but they killed the appeal just the same.  The Court determined that petitioners/appellants Perry Caudill and Dixie Sales Auto Repair did not have sufficient "standing" to have appealed the Greensboro Board of Adjustment's original decision.

So the matter is dead... again... for now.

Barring today's promised deluge, history might be made this evening.

My eighth grader Josie is in the starting line-up for today's football game between Aycock and Kiser Middle Schools.  Yeah, I know what you are thinking... what's new about a girl playing middle school football?  Some of the best place-kickers are girls.  Wrong bucko....

Josie's starting position? - defensive tackle.
