David Hoggard's take on local politics and life in general from Greensboro, NC

From what I know about the folks who will be affected by the redistricting of High Point Schools, this headline is probably the understatement of the year:  Attendance forum may draw crowd.

Even though ABC of Guilford County now has a defunct website, the members of the group of parents formed to overturn the lottery known as the High Point Choice Plan are mostly alive and well and staying in touch over at the N&R's Chalkboard blog.  I say 'mostly', because many of them became so fed up with the perceived intractability of Guilford County School's Board and administration, they are now educating their children in private schools.

If true, accusations forwarded in a letter to the editor in this morning's N&R ought to make your blood boil.  Volunteer firefighters asked to clean the toilets at the Superdome?!?!

I understand that the N&R's editorial staff creates the titles to each letter submitted.  So in their own way - they concurred with Jimmy Wilson of High Point when he tells us about "More of FEMA's Idiocy".

NC-Politics.org is becoming THE repository for North Carolina election and candidate profiles on the web.  The site has a ton of information that should be of interest to voters in our upcoming municipal election.

After I posted a compilation of Greensboro City Council websites and blogs, the site's webmaster reminded us that any local candidate in Guilford County can utilize the site to post a profile which can include positions, qualifications, goals and ideas.  I urge all candidates to utilize this free service to get the word out on your campaign even if you have a website or blog of your own (you can link back to your site).  Two GSO Council candidates have already done so and others are working on it.

NC-Politics.com is becoming a one-stop information source for local voters, and you need to be listed.
