Page/Grimsley week is upon us.

Think of this long-held high school football rivalry as our local version of the Hatfield and McCoy saga.  But in this week-long testosterone fueled feud, eggs and toilet paper are - thankfully - the weapons of choice for the combatants.

Even though it is only Monday, the reports of junoiric (different than sophomoric) shenanigans on the part of those uncivilized Page H.S. hooligans are starting to cross the otherwise cerebral and always-academically oriented communications coming over cell phones and across Instant Messaging sytems belonging to Jackson and Josie... my two Grimsley H.S. students.

As a valuable member of Grimsley's soon-to-be-victorious-over-those-people-who-wish-they-attended-Grimsley football squad, my eldsest son Jackson's team is looking way past Friday's inconsequential, and walk-in-the-park contest over a bunch of Oxford shirt wearing preppies.  Jackson's 4-1 team is headed for the state championship and has little regard for Page's last-year-we-couldn't-find-our-ass-with-both-hands-and-we-are-just-about-as-pitiful-this-year football team.

Yes sports fans, Page/Grimsley week is upon us... but your faithful correspondent is committed to providing only fair and balanced coverage of all the vandalism and other immature incidents that Page Pirate affiliates have historically inflictied upon the always-innocent Grimsley Whirlies' students - who, by the way, will be hitting the books extra hard this week.

On an unrelated note:, but interesting: Despite years of spurning them all of their lives, Jackson and Josie have informed us that they all-of-a-sudden want to start eating eggs... in great quantities.  Jinni picked up several dozen of them yesterday to hopefully satisfy their new-found tastes.  Being the fine students of science that they are, they also informed us that all of those eggs will gastronomically cause an upsurge in the use of toilet paper in our household.  So Jinni bought extra packs of Charmin also.

Eggs ARE a good source of protien, ya' know.  I'm real proud of my two Whirlies - what good kids they are.

Now that I have been identified by Christspeak as 1 of "2 of the South's 13 known liberal Republicans", I have to wonder...  On the political continuum, doesn't the label "liberal Republican" equate to the equally dreaded "conservative Democrat"?

If so, guilty as charged... I have finally been pegged and pigeon-holed to my immense satisfaction..
