Sorry for the silence.  I've been working in Charlotte and just never went through all of the barriers I was encountering getting on the net at my friend Gene Cline's house.  But anyway...

Today is a banner day - The Hogg has turned the big five-o and he is feeling pretty damn good about it.

I arrived home about an hour ago, dead tired from too much ladder work and the pre-Thanksgiving I-85 traffic.  When I walked in the house I noticed several cards and a small package sitting on our dining room table.  My spirits lifted when I opened the surprise birthday gift from my now-favorite city council member who obviously understands what turning turning fifty and excellent taste is all about.

The Thanksgiving weekend starts tomorrow at oh-my-God-o'clock as I begin smoking several turkeys for my family and others starting around 6:00a.  Apparently Jinni has some sort of a party planned for Saturday night in belated honor of my fifty-year-old ass.  Call her if you want to participate and take note of the high bar that Mr. Phillips has set .

Happy birthday to me.
