Offline comes first

I realized yesterday I shouldn’t try to post poems I’ve written until I’m pretty sure I’m done with them. Blog posts are supposed to be forever, no? Usually I’ll work on a piece then post it and leave it alone unless I find a typo or something later. Poetry I have to pick at and pick at and pick at. I must have tweaked and re-posted that thing a dozen times last night. If I decide to do any more poetry, must remember to do it offline first.

After posting yesterday afternoon, I got out on my bike for my first local ride this spring. I cycled one of my usual routes through Grafton and Westboro – rolling hills, farms and fields, only the fields are being gobbled by even more housing developments. It’s endless. Anyway, there’s still some farmland and I passed cows with horns, banded Galloway cows (they look like big Oreo cookies), horses, and more cows. There was also a llama at Tufts Vet School, which owns a lot of beautiful open land – huge tracts of green grassy fields and some pasture land lined with electric fencing to keep the cows in.

I didn’t get pictures, again, but when I got home there was a box from Staples – my 128 Mb CF card for my camera arrived. Yippee! And we continue to have lovely spring weather, so I’ll have to go out and try it. The offline world is too beautiful now. Liz is right, why do tourists come here in the fall when spring is the absolute best time to be in the Boston area.
