Goodbye WonderWorld, Hello Invensys OpsManage '09. That's the new name for the gathering of people interested in manufacturing software held this year in Anaheim November 3, 4, 5. Click the link to view the event and register. Remember the new name for the combination of the Invensys manufacturing companies is Invensys Operations Management (IOM).
Speaking of registering, I'm moderating a Webcast for WINA, the Wireless Industrial Networking Alliance. Speakers will discuss WirelessHart and ZigBee. Join me on July 30 at 1 pm EDT. (There is a small charge to help defray the costs of the Webcast. Nothing goes to me.)
I just received a press release from ABB announcing that ARC Advisory Group has again determined that ABB is the market share leader in distributed control systems (DCS). Interestingly, the ARC report goes on to say that the DCS market will be flat for the next few years, while the growth area will be service and support for all the systems already in use.
I've noticed this week that every time I mention the name of that Plano, Texas-based process automation company I get a spike in hits to my Web site. If I were one of those shameless search engine optimization marketing fraud guys, I'd mention Invensys a second time in this post. oops, ;-) That does tell me that there's much interest in what is going down there. I'm sure it will be interesting for a while as the industry players figure out their futures.
