Eat without Guilt [posted by Troy] Now, Mr. Iowa Burns generally doesn't eat meat, but he has been known, from time to time, to dine on fish. Some fishes can be a great way to get protein, but the trouble is that we are fishing many species of fish to extinction. The Monterey Bay Aquarium has put out a Web site colled Seafood Watch where you can get all kinds of information about the health of fish populations. You can also get guides to help you order seafood dinners that do not include endangered fish. For instance, this is a Midwest guide to seafood. So, Mr. Iowa Burns can print this out and bring it with him when he orders his Filet-O-Fish.

Conversations With Father Swanson [posted by Troy] So, I was having a discussion with my dad about the largest cities in the world. I told him that I'd go out and look up the largest cities and post them to the blog. The problem is in defining "cities" since metropolitan areas are often made up of more than one city. However, if we are looking to find the world's largest population centers, then metropolitan areas seem to make the most sense, since this tells us where the largest groupings of people are. So, I visited the United Nation's population pages and found this following list of the world's largest metropolitan centers: Tokyo, Japan ........... 35.327
Mexico City, Mexico .... 19.013
New York-Newark, USA ... 18.498
Mumbai (Bombay),India... 18.336
São Paulo, Brazil ...... 18.333
Delhi, India ........... 15.334
Calcutta, India ........ 14.299
Buenos Aires,Argent..... 13.349
Jakarta, Indonesia ..... 13.194
Shanghai, China ........ 12.665
(estimated population in the year 2005, measured in millions of people)
