Bike Energy [posted by Troy]
Tonight I was working out on the bike, and I was thinking about the wattage that a person generates on the bike in one hour of hard riding. This then took me back to a conversation between Adam and Greg over the summer during RAGBRAI about the possibility of hooking up a bike trainer to an electric generator, and then hooking the generator up to a television. It would be a way to save money, work out, and watch TV. Now, I only have a few friends (maybe one or two) who has any chance of actually create one of these things. Here's the questions that I'd have to them:

1) Is it really possible to make one of these?
2) How much would it cost?
3) Could it really make enough juice to power a TV?
