The debate is over [posted by Troy] The following comment was left by Mr. Keil: Truth often gets in the way of fact. Earth's climate is changing because of people. How can a person believe, quite reasonably, that humans changed the ecosystems, both biologically and sometimes very chemically, of regionally small things like rivers and streams and not also believe that we're capable of doing that sort of thing to the entire planet? It's not logical. Let's have the arguement of what to do about it instead. It is something when almost every scientist in the world agrees that we are messing up the environment, but the rest of us still have to debate. When do we say that we end the debate?

VP? [posted by ZelderBar] So, everyone is guessing that Obama will either run for President in '08 or end up on someone else's ticket as a VP candidate. I did happen to notice that Obama was on all three network Sunday morning political shows over the last couple of weeks. Here's a question for you, could you support a Hillary/Obama ticket? Is than an all star ticket or is that a big risk of a ticket?

But Don't Tell [posted by ZelderBar] Is truth defined as being whatever the government says? What is scientific truth? It seems that the head climate scientist at NASA has been asking these questions and getting in trouble. From an article in the NY Times:
The chairman of the House Science Committee sharply criticized NASA yesterday after the agency's top climate scientist and several public affairs officers complained of political pressure intended to prevent public discussions of global warming. "Good science cannot long persist in an atmosphere of intimidation," the chairman, Representative Sherwood Boehlert, Republican of New York, said in a letter to NASA's administrator, Michael D. Griffin. "Political figures ought to be reviewing their public statements to make sure they are consistent with the best available science," Mr. Boehlert said. "Scientists should not be reviewing their statements to make sure they are consistent with the current political orthodoxy."
