Grey Cup 2006 I had to admit I'm not much of a football fan. I could never understand the whole point of the game: it all seems rather silly to me. But nonetheless, I will be watching this year's game with interest. A hometown boy, Rodney Morgan, has choreographed the halftime show. He apparently got the gig because he's Nelly Furtado's choreographer, and since she's one of the headline acts it all fell into place. I remember highland dancing with Rodney when he was just a wee lad. He also fronts a band called Fritz Helder and the Phantoms. Not sure how that all about. He's being helped by another former Whitehorse dancer, Ilona Dougherty (she's taking care of the logistics end as opposed to the creative). And, yet another former Whitehorse dancer, Nikki Swerhum, is now a cheerleader for the B.C. Lions, so I'll be watching for her too. Iris danced with Nikki for many years.
Iris, by the way, has decided she wants to do commercial dance work. Yesterday she applied to both Ryerson and York Universities. I hope she gets accepted into one of them because she hasn't really got a Plan B. Sounds like her mom: Ryerson was the only school I applied to. If I hadn't gotten in I'm not sure what I would have done.
