Chinese do not seem to understand that Christmas songs are meant to be played in the weeks before Christmas. This afternoon I was driving to a meeting when the driver was listening to the Shanghai music radio. And what song were they playing? Last Christmas from Wham!

Reminds me of a flight to the tropical island of Hainan in August 2003. Although it was mid-summer, Hainan Airlines had decided to play Winter Wonderland continuously as the inflight music. Nobody seemed to notice or care. When I asked the stewardess if they could play something else, it was clear that she had no clue why I asked her that. But at least she turned the music off.
