This weekend I decided not to work too much, and mainly do some household chores and relax. That worked pretty well actually. This morning I woke up at 8:30 AM. I don[base ']t like to sleep late on weekends, so I got up, made a coffee and then worked a bit for about half an hour. I made another coffee and grabbed something small to eat, and then went through my RSS reader to see if there was any interesting news on the weblogs and newssites I usually follow. At about 10 I checked what Qi was doing, and she was slowly waking up. I made her a tea to drink in bed, and then put on some classical music in the living room and started reading my book. I am currently reading Timeline by Michael Crichton. Great book, I really love it, fast-paced action from the author of Jurrasic Park and The Lost World, about a group of archeological students that get send back to the middle ages to rescue their professor. The way Crichton tells the story makes it very believable.
After Qi got up we had a late breakfast (around lunchtime actually) of scrambled eggs and toast. She wanted to look at some wedding dresses with a friend, and I decided to go to have a drink in the sun at Xujiahui[base ']s Starbucks outside terrace. I opted for a caramel frappucino, but as they had run out of caramel sauce I got a chocolate cream frappucino instead. Also very nice. The sun disappeared quickly, but the temperature was very nice (about 22 degrees). I needed to catch up with some of Adam Curry[base ']s latest podcasts so I had loaded my iPod with the last 8 of them. It[base ']s a great way to spend an afternoon, listening to a good podcast, enjoying a cold drink and looking at all the people sitting around. After about an hour I decided to continue reading my book, so I switched to classical music again.
Around 4 PM I went home, and worked a bit again. I made some phonecalls to Dubai, Holland and Germany for business deals we are working on, and then wrote some emails. About 6 PM I packed my sports clothes and went to the gym. A relaxed work-out today, firs a 35 minute run (very slow, I ran about 6 km [^] with Adam Curry on the iPod), then some weights and after that a 10-minute swim. I finished it off with 15 minutes in the sauna and a cold shower. I felt great again! At home I made some business phonecalls and then cooked dinner with Qi. To start with a hot and sour soup, and then we cooked a steak with coleslaw salad and french bread (with camembert and coullomieres cheese), and a chocolat mousse to finish it off. During dinner I played another podcast, so now I am up to speed again on what Adam Curry is doing with his podshow.com (a potential competitor of Toodou.com!).
Now I am going through my RSS reader again, writing this blog entry, and then I plan to watch The Phantom of the Opera DVD with a bottle of red wine. I am ready for a new working week!
