Scanning some of my news headlines this morning, and I found the following article over at USCHO.com:
It's an all-canine final in the Beanpot. Boston University is back in
the title game, as John Laliberte scored both Terrier goals, backup
netminder Stephan Siwiec made 36 saves and BU held off Boston College 2-1 in Monday's nightcap. The Terriers, looking for their 12th title in 16 years, will face Northeastern in the final.
There is also a good article online in the Boston Globe. If you have no idea what the Beanpot is, read this.
I can hear the chants ringing in my ears now: "BC Sucks! BC
Sucks! BC Sucks!" I will admit that I never attended a
Beanpot Tournament in my four years at BU. I kept finding excuses
to not wait in line for a chance to get tickets:
"I have to go to class."
"I do not have the cash to get the tickets."
"Insert lame excuse here."
I actually was trying to see if I could score some tickets for the
Beanpot this year, but it was not meant to be. Again, I do miss
college hockey, and reading some of the coverage of the opening of Harry Agganis Arena made me pine for the days of watching BU hockey on Babcock Street and chanting "Goalie!" "Sieve!" and "SASQUATCH!"
I will not hear any debate on this topic, even from you Mid-Western
college hockey fans. The Beanpot is the best college hockey
tournament. Take that, broad-sheet!
