Yesterday, I attended a
Novell seminar at the
Hyatt at the
Inner Harbor. The seminar was called
Expanding Choice Open Enterprise Seminar. Essentially, a presentation telling me all about the next version of Novell's server offerings, with
HP selling their wares.
One of the nice things about this is that I got paid to do this, and I
had a nice commute with my two feet as opposed to driving over thirty
miles and fighting some of my closest traffic friends. This made
me pine for a job working in or around Baltimore. It would be so
awesome to have a job where I could walk to the office. My car
would never have to move, which would be such a great change. (By
the way, anyone wanting to hire a pretty good systems administrator
around Baltimore, please let me know.)
The other thing about a seminar like this is they give out what we in
the industry call "spliffs." Back in the heady days of the
dot-com boom, you used to get really cool stuff. Now, you get a
t-shirt, a hat, or a mug. Of course, they gave away an iPod which
I did not win. Bastards!
Anywho, I won a shirt and hat, and then I was barred from winning everything else.

The presenter--a Novell SE I have known for years--called on me to ask
a couple of other questions. How can I help it if I am so damn
smart.
