New Items at HPL Check out our New items! 3:01:33 PM     Upcoming Events at HPL Bubble Day 2 PM Monday, July 6 The bubbly fun includes: Giant bubble-making, a Bubble Gum Contest, Super Foam Blowers, Soap Bubble Volley Ball and more. Please call the Youth Services Department at 231-722-7276 x 230. Patchwork Pear Theatre 6:30 PM Wednesday, July 8 Patchwork Pear presents free Outdoor Theatre on the Library lawn. The talented duo presents a creative mix of mime, music, juggling and spoken word. Please call the Youth Services Department at 231-722-7276 x 230 . Braveheart Raptor Rehabilitation Center 2 PM Tuesday, July 14 The Raptor Center rescues injured birds of prey and returns them to the wild. Director Susan Stamy will visit with some of the “guests” at the Center and tell about raptors. Visiting birds may include the Barred Owl, Turkey Vulture, Peregrine Falcon or American Kestrel Please call the Youth Services Department at 231-722-7276 x 230. Invention Day 2 PM Thursday, July 16 Creative activities based on kids’ inventions. An Invention Fair will let kids show off things they’ve made. The Invention Game gets kids to think up unusual solutions to ordinary problems. As the program finale kids will make Lie Detectors and other weird gizmos. Just when you think you figured it out it twists again at the end. A good read. Death at the Spring Plant Sale by Ann Ripley: Good stories but a little to "upper" class for my comfort zone! Summer Garden Murder by Ann Ripley: Good writing but always feel like something's missing. Northern Lights by Nora Roberts: Northern Lights was a very spellbinding book from front cover to back cover. Excellent character development. Keep me riveted right to the last page. Murder in the Map Room by Elliott Roosevelt: The Eleanor Roosevelt mysteries are not only enjoyable fun to read they are so WWII knowledgeable. Walk to Remember by Nicholas Sparks: Excellent, a tear jerker. Things we once held dear by Ann Tatlock: A little slow. Tall, Dark, and Texan by Jodi Thomas: I couldn't put this book down! An excellent read! It made me laugh and cry and kept be wanting to know what would happen next. This is a must read for any romance fan! Bishop's Daughter by Tiffany Warren: A book about love that passes all understanding. Even though it started slow, the ending was about giving hope to all those that have been in love before. Uglies by Scott Westerfeld: Great book! My daughter (16) recommended it and I found it to be fast paced and fun a fun read. Forgiveness: perspectives on making peace with your past by Amy Lyles Wilson: Great read! Great tips, real life stories. I have been hurt and hurt others and this book is almost like a self help book that everyone should read!! Loitering with intent by Stuart Woods: Good beach book, easy and uncomplicated. Last Command by Timothy Zahn: Great book. Chocolate Flava by Zane: Very irrotical [sic]. Not for children. It's a good book for adults. 1:51:14 PM
