"The Black Dahlia case will never be solved. It will remain a gaping, black hole in the annuals of Los Angeles crime."--John Gilmore, (2007)

Mouths agape

I couldn't believe it, either. Let's do another proof, Hmm? Let's try a more retro-inductive approach this time. I'll need you to follow along closely 'cause, while it's not a long trip, you can easily get lost where we're going. So put down those  GPS computers, we're riding bareback this time. Get a good map of the  Los Angeles area, a straightedge, and a pencil and let's make the scene, and solve the infamous 1947 Black Dahlia murder the hard way. Make the sign of the cross. A do it yourself in the comfort of your own home kit. First, find and mark these locations on your maps as black dots with your pencils;

1. Forest Lawn Hollywood Hills Park (Entrance, 6300 Forest Lawn Dr.).

2. Los  Angeles High Memorial Park (W. Olympic Blvd. and W. Mullen St.)

3. Hollywood Park Racetrack, Inglewood (Paddock area)

4. Hawthorne Municipal Airport

5. Torrance Municipal Airport

6. Santa Monica Municipal Airport

7. Exposition Park, Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum, Peristile entrance.

8. Clement Junction (S. 24th St. & S. Alameda St. and S. 25th. St.).

Connect the dots, you should have described two line segments. One north-south, and one west-east. Mark the intersection point of the lines as Y. Next draw a straight line southwest from Forest Lawn dot through the Santa Monica Airport dot and continue until it has reached the Speedway in Venice and stop at the foot of Breeze Ave. Mark the spot with a Z. Now, locate the Hirsh Apts at 300 E. Washington Blvd. and mark it with an X and you're almost done.

Describe line X-Y-Z. If you have done a neat job of it, you will observe that this line segement intersects point Y at exactly the same point where the north-south and east-west lines cross. 3825 S. Norton Av. Where, what do we find? Elizabeth Short's nude biscected body. Amazing? Let's see once more;

X, is the Hirsch Apts.

Y, is exactly where they found the body.

Z, is the foot of Breeze Av. in Venice. Ed Burns suicide note found here 3/15/47.

There it is, right before your bleary eyes.
