Looking for something different to do with your digital pictures? Check this guy's Photoshop action out -- it builds three images into a filmstrip image. It's free.

Dan Gillmor tracks copyright trends at the CES show last week. Hey Hollowood: guess what? I'm gonna copy something of yours. Deal with it.

Yeah, John and Jeremy, I have been noticing the trend to corporate types coming out on weblogs (kudos to Apple employees who've been blogging -- hey, can any of you sneak a digital camera into your lab and show us some secrets? Heh.). Markets are conversations. It's very interesting how many people are asking me about Tablets lately. I talked. They listened. Now they are interested. Weblogging is going to change how we buy and evaluate products. I agree with Joi Ito. I'd buy a product based just on whether or not there's a weblog or not about it from the team that built it.

How do we know that Diet Coke didn't pay for this placement on Dave's page? By the way, how much is a link like this worth? On my site? Hell, if they sent me a free case, I'd put a link here (I actually do drink Diet Coke). Speaking of which, I just got a free Gillette razor in the mail (it's a pretty nice razor, by the way). I would link to their Web site, but it's a f&*king Flash applet and I can't point you to specific pages on their site. Isn't that lame? Here, I'm gonna put a link to Gillette.com anyway. Maybe one of their Web marketing dweebs is watching their referer logs and will see what a stupid site they have.

Yet more proof of 802.11g's momentum (Story from PCMag). Thanks to Scott Mace for this link. Scott's a tech journalist that I've been watching for a decade now. He's currently watching wireless and ISP sectors and his weblog doesn't disappoint with interesting pointers like this one.

You know, it's been a while since I've been at the 802.11b weblog. There's tons of news there. WTF? An 802.11g gateway is already selling for $134. Wow. I think 802.11a is gonna have a tough chance at success.

InfoWorld's Russell Kay writes about Tablets and the market's reaction to them. He thinks that collaboration and markup are the real opportunity that most people are missing.

Oh, Alwin Hawkins says that the Pirillo's dog is really threatened by my presence and his humping behavior is actually telling me something other than he's happy to see me. Oh, don't worry Sprocket, I won't steal your food or your owner. (Sprocket humps everyone who visits the Pirillos, by the way).

You know, last night as we were walking around Noe Valley I realized we had a "Smart Mob" happening. It was interesting to see how the group decided whether or not to go into a bar. One person went in. A couple of others decided to pass by, but then then stopped and realized they were gonna be left alone in the street. So, they stopped, rejoined the mob, and went in. Of course, once in, promptly everyone started bringing out their electric toys.

More than 300,000 Macintosh users have downloaded Safari already. Word gets around fast nowadays when there's something worth downloading. My fellow hamburger eaters last night were saying that Safari is fast! What will Microsoft and Mozilla's response be?

You know, one of the under-reported stories to come out of Apple last week was Apple's ability to keep its new products a secret. Webloggers and Rumor sites were both caught off guard. Steve Jobs is running a tight ship lately.

I'm enjoying Halley's commentary on how to be an Alpha Male. Seems so is everyone else. Halley was a major topic of conversation at last night's Blogger Burger Bash. "I wonder if she knows we're all reading her" one Alpha Male asked me. He was scared that Halley would stop writing if she knew we were all reading her.

It's been a while since I've looked into the Train Simulator fan site that I started several years ago. Microsoft has recently released an update to its Train Simulator package. I should get out my old copy and play around again. This week I'll be handing ownership of the forum over to someone who has been playing a much more active role there.

Dan Shafer's weblog is one of my favorite places to go for a good rant on Bay Area sports teams. While there I see he has a good rant against Apple, too. You know, it's weird. Both Microsoft and Apple have messed up their "farm systems." It used to be that there was a good farm system of small developers who'd build things for each platform. Now both Microsoft and Apple are trying to do everything in house. Part of that is frustration with relying on outside developers (heck, Quark XPress still hasn't been ported to OS X). Part of it is an unwillingness to share secrets (and make outside entities wealthy). But, it doesn't make a platform healthier, either, since most innovations come from small companies. Look at Weblogging. The Weblogging world has been steadily growing for more than two years now, but neither company has done anything for individuals like the handful of weblogging companies have.

I got humped last night by a dog. Don't worry, I'm used to it. I get humped everytime I go to the Pirillos. Sprocket is one happy dog!

Wild. On Thursday I got a wild idea to go for Hamburgers in San Francisco. Saturday night 20 very cool people showed up. Here's Tantek's, Chris's, and Dave's account. Don't know who any of these people are? OK, let's see if you can pass the party quiz:

Which of the people who attended did the following?

1) Worked on the rendering engine on IE 5 for the Mac?

2) Designed engines for Ford?

3) Ran for congress in 2002?

4) Co-founded the Berkeley Macintosh User's Group?

5) Founded the "Am I Hot or Not?" Web site?

6) Is a co-host on "Call for Help" on TechTV?

7) Had a large chunk of his sites blocked by the Chinese government this week?

8) Planned the "Gnomedex" conference?

9) Posted pictures of her derriere yesterday on her weblog?

10) Wrote large portions of Radio UserLand?

11) Is planning a weblogger conference for educators?

12) Was leader of the team that designed and built Macromind Director (which went on to be Macromedia)?

13) Just wanted to have a hamburger and wanted some interesting company?

14) Is the primary software engineer at http://www.leapfrog.com/?

15) Just got a Harvard Fellowship?

16) Writes the Digital Media column for Lockergnome.com?

Answers: 1) Tantek Celik 2) Al Nevarez 3) Tara Sue Grubb 4) Raines Cohen 5) James Hong 6) Chris Pirillo 7) Evan Williams 8) Lori Lockwood 9) Cheyenne Burnsworth 10) Jake Savin 11) Pat Delaney 12) Marc Canter 13) Me 14) Simon Fell 15) Dave Winer 16) Jake Ludington

My brother, Alex, and his wife, Amy, were there too (oh, and so was Marc Canter's whole family -- his kids are very cute).

Yeah, Dave, we'll have to do it again sometime. The next month is pretty nuts, though.
