Jack Reznicki gives you the skinny behind some of his photographs here. Useful stuff for aspiring photographers.

Here's an interesting photo gallery of Kansas City's Union Station. Boy, I wish I had enough money and time to visit all of our nation's great railroad stations. I love trains. Luckily, thanks to digital photographers around the world I can visit tons of places that I probably will never physically get to. Speaking of which, I'm happy to go out and take pictures of anything around Silicon Valley that you'd like me to show you. I have a feeling I'll have few takers. It's a pretty boring place lately with all the "space available" signs up.

Anil John says that splitting up Microsoft would split up its two best resources: Bill Gates and Steve Ballmer. Interesting point. I disagree, though. The whole point about Microsoft is that it needs to become more than Gates/Ballmer. Hey, quick one: who's running Porsche? Who's running In-N-Out? Who's running eBay? I can't remember the names. Well, OK, I know who runs eBay, but humor me a little. Microsoft is a lot bigger than just two people now. Gates is really focusing on watches and Tablets. He's not an Xbox kind of guy. I doubt he really gets passionate about SQL server. Let someone else get on stage and lead those companies. Unleash the creativity already at Microsoft. Do you really care who's in charge? I don't. I care about whether I get cool products and I care about whether they get enough market momentum to survive (and thrive).

Oh, is Joe Brockmeier reading my weblog? Didn't I say a few days ago that Microsoft was spreading itself too thin? Now read his article. Hmmm. Of course, he didn't come to the same conclusion.

Interesting. I see Phillip Torrone got a call from Woz today (about the Segway). Woz has been a busy dude today.

Last night I wrote Woz asking him when we'd know more about Wheels of Zeus. He wrote me back this morning, saying that he won't be able to talk about Wheels of Zeus for maybe another year. "We have a fine product but aren't rushing it. We'd rather it be solid."

Well, 2004 should be pretty interesting then!

Even better, here's the digital picture of the day (Steve's Digicams).

The Nikon forum over at DPReview.com is running another photo challenge. Excellent photography. Topic this month: "Still Life." Come judge for yourself.

Speaking of Leo, he'll be at the Golden Gate Computer Society in San Rafael on Monday, January 27. Hmmm, I wanna go.

I was just over at Leo Laporte's weblog and found out that CNET Radio is gonna quit at the end of the month. That's a bummer.
