Final taunt to my brother-in-law: does your fancy dancy 17-inch-supercharged PowerMac let you be comfortable on the couch like this?

I better watch it or next time Steve Jobs is on stage at MacWorld he'll be showing off a cool looking tablet. Cute PJ's, though! Thanks Maryam for shooting the picture. By the way, did you catch Maryam (my wife) on Chris Pirillo's new radio show last night?

Steve Gillmor: Thank god for Apple.

That's what my brother-in-law says. He works there and is very happy this weekend. His stock has been soaring.

Every two weeks he puts us up in his house. And every two weeks he taunts me with his 17-inch PowerBook (here's a picture I just took seconds ago of our two machines side-by-side). Of course, I keep asking him when he's gonna do a Tablet PC. He's very smart. Just smiles and laughs. Then he asks "how's your stock price doing lately?"

That's OK, I taunt him back with shots of the new Hertz computers at Oakland Airport. They are all Windows machines.

My brother-in-law taunts me back with their cool UI. I taunt him back with Art Rage. He taunts me with Keynote. I taunt him with Math Journal. And OneNote.

After a while we both get tired and start typing emails again. Of course, if he ever does convince me to get one of those new Mini Macs, I found out that Microsoft employees get some nice discounts on Apple gear.

Ahh, it's so fun to live in a two-company family.

Oh, while we're talking about all this stuff, looks like the new iPod Shuffle isn't good for Podcasting. Bummer, cause Steve Rubel got me one for just that purpose.

Whoa, they just put Avalon out in public for everyone to download and play with. Awesome!

Here's some videos:

Chris Anderson: Hello Avalon.

Daniel Lehenbauer: Demo of Avalon 3D.

This was a key part of the Longhorn vision. But now it's shipping on Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, and Longhorn.

NewScientist.com: Spotting the next bestseller.

"THE forces that propel a book onto the bestsellers list have been analysed mathematically for the first time. The findings could help publishers use initial sales data to decide which books to back further with advertising campaigns, and which books are not worth the bother.

Juliana Aldous (she's a product manager with Microsoft Learning -- that's the arm of Microsoft that publishes books) sent me this.

JK says that there's no way I'd link to the Mac Tablet petition. Yeah, he's probably right. :-)

This is really cool. Mix Flickr with a map and this is what you get. Details on the Windows Mobile Team Blog.

It's the evening of podcasts. Mick and Cameron did a podcast with me in December and it just was put up.

Last night Maryam and I were on Chris Pirillo's new show. That'll be up shortly. It was streamed live and Chris had tons of people. It's amazing how big an audience these things have. Almost all the conferences I did in the 1990s had fewer attendees.

Update: the Chris Pirillo show that we recorded last night is now up.
