Idiots I tell you!
I'd been experiencing major connectivity problems in Belgium for the past 4 days. After 3 of which I spent troubleshooting and attempting to get the helpdesk on the line. I was dropping packets left and right, inconsistently as well.
Turns out my provider here, Telenet, not only knew about my problem, but actually created it!
Apparently here is an upstream limit of 2.5 gigabytes per month. My extensive testing of peercast, even though it just a 40k stream I was shooting into the 'cloud', it was enough to tax the usage limits I was previously unaware of.
Here's where it gets wierd, instead of a representative of the company calling me and congratulating me on being one of their best customers and selling me more bandwidth, hey punish me.
Even after I used their online system to purchase more bandwidth, it will still take 5 days to get my full broadband connection back. Essentially the punishment consists of throttling all of your bandwidth. Up and Downstream, which doesn't make sense, since I haven't even used half of my downstream limit.
No matter, fuck these guys. I'm finding an alternative today.
I guess this is what CRM is all about huh?
