We really were Enronized

The "smoking gun" Enron memos released in the past couple of days confirm what many in California believed last summer: the energy shortage and, particulary, the absurd spikes in natural gas prices were caused by companies scamming the entire state.

What is really upsetting about this is that they didn't care, and apparently still don't care, that their greed doesn't just affect some kind of imaginary fat-cat Californians. Instead it has had huge effects on everyday people in California who have seen the technology downturn exacerbated to the point that thousands have lost jobs and who will see tremendous cuts in education funding next year.
