The earthquake
Overall, I don't think that this quake was particulary big news in and of itself; though I imagine that the people who were affected by it feel differently.
I used to sort of enjoy earthquakes, until I experienced the Loma Prieta quake. Now when I feel one start I think back to how the Loma Prieta quake began with a not-so-scary movement, but quickly grew into something unimaginable to anyone who has not experienced it.
Last night's quake began somewhat the same way for me; initial shaking that immediately got my attention, but didn't seem particularly bad. At this point in a quake I wait to see if it will just stop, which is what usually happens, However this time it continued and began to shake harder... just like Loma Prieta. We got up and headed for the kids' rooms wondering what would happen next. Fortunately, it ended at that point.
