Well, it seems that NASCAR is good for more than just selling t-shirts and laundry detergent. It was exciting to see, and for whatever reasons you decided to become involved with the Bobsleigh efforts, Mr. B, thanks. 10:11:57 PM [] blah blah blah'd on this Alwin shares some inner thoughts as someone who does a difficult job. As I watched the unit fill with the dying, as I woke patients up at 0300 to move them to the general floor to make room for another "critical" patient, as I drove needles and catheters and drains into emaciated bodies while they gasped and wretched and gurgled, I felt myself start to sag. Not just my body; my self, the essential me, just started to buckle under the weight of misery that permeated the unit. Al, I'd be far more worried if you kept at that job, but had stopped caring or didn't care in the first place. Hang in there, fella. You'll have crappy days like these, and some brighter days -- where someone comes in to your place, and gets to go home feeling better eventually. You've gotta ac-cen-tu-ate da positive... I hope the bright days come soon and often, and stay strong in your memories. I know some of the folks who work at the local animal shelter (PLEASE have your pets spayed or neutered!), and they also face carrying out ugly tasks, uglier in some ways. Knowing that the people doing these kinds of jobs care, and knowing that while it does bother them to have to do their job sometimes, they are willing to do it anyway and to do it with love. It does make a difference to me. Thanks. 2:29:37 PM [] blah blah blah'd on this [blinked via ViewFromTheHeart]
