I hate the Dodgers and always will (its breeding). But their decision to come out and congratulate the team that beat them in front of Dodgers fans may be the best sports story of the year.

The Atlanta Braves had the same chance, and they quietly walked back into their club house.

That is the Braves loss. They lost on the field, and they lost after the game was over. They can and should sulk now. They had a chance to do better.

They could have congratulated the team that beat them. But they didn't.

So good luck to the Astros and Cardinals in the National League Championship Series. You deserve to be there.

And congratulations to the Dodgers for showing more class than any other baseball team this year.

While I still hate the Dodgers, they have shown us how to be a class act. I hope we live up to it next year.

The Astros are up 2-0 in Atlanta. While I have no ties to Houston, especially since Mom & Dad left, I am still rooting for them.

I am rooting for them because I never want to hear the Braves stupid tomahawk chant again. I think that chant is driving the move to remove American Indian references from our nations high schools. The chant is offensive.

Get rid of the chant and its exposure, and very few would care.

Bob Herbert : "If Mr. Bush has...: "Bob Herbert: "If Mr. Bush has a plan to clean up the mess in Iraq, he should say so. If he has a strategy -- besides more tax cuts -- to bolster employment in the U.S., he should tell us. If he's in touch with the real world in which these and other very serious problems exist, he might consider letting us know.""

This is one of those Silly Posts. When I first saw it, it was attributed to Frank Herbert, the author of the Dune sci/fi series. My first though was isn't Frank Herbert dead (and yes, he passed away in 1986)?

Dave corrected himself and it is Bob Herbert not Frank that we can attribute the quote to.

But Dave, thanks for sending me to the Dune website. The web works in mysterious ways.

When weblogs stop working, they stop working completely. No publishing, No Posting, No Saving.

I have a post that I published to the weblog. You may be able to find it in the archive, but it never made it to the home page. Quit and Restart the app. No Change.

The next post never made it to the weblog, and it is just gone. I spend to much time on the writing for it just to disappear. And yes, I saved it as a draft before I tried to post it, but now it is GONE!

The short story is that Radio and MarsEdit are not working. My work is lost because of it. And I am not happy, but you won't know that because, this post will be tucked into the archives and never make it to the home page.

It was tough to watch for a long-time Giants fan. The Dodgers team, having just lost, emptied the dugout, and walked out on the field to congratulate the Cardinals. The result was an unruly vision of the NHL's line handshake.

MLB doesn't have the tradition of the handshake, so the unruly mob spoke highly of the defeated. More highly than I generally care to speak about a Dodgers team.

But it was a class act, and I would love to see more unruly (congratulatory) mobs at the end a playoff series. Both teams are giving it their all, but there will be a winner and loser. So while the NHL's final handshake is bit contrived by tradition, it is one of the best traditions in sports. I would love to see it adopted by other sports.

The Dodgers made a step in the right direction with their actions tonight. So I must recognize and commend them for it.

Of course, I still have to weigh their actions tonight against their actions last Saturday when they beat the Giants for the NL Western Division.

Who knows? Maybe now that they have shown graciousness in defeat, they may learn graciousness in victory. Still, it is the Dodgers, so I doubt it ;^p .
