Bush Restoring Cash Bonuses for Appointees. The White House will make several thousand political appointees eligible for lucrative cash bonuses, abandoning a Clinton-era prohibition. By Eric Lichtblau. [New York Times: Politics]
They just announced a salary freeze for normal employees, but now they're giving bonuses to political appointments. I don't imagine any of them will get bonuses for whistle blowing on corruption or inefficiencies either. The key phrase, as in so much this administration does is "ordered by the White House chief of staff ... earlier this year but never publicly disclosed." This administration certainly likes to hide what it does from the public. Wonder why?
