Outflanked Democrats Wonder How to Catch Up in Media Wars. Democrats are scouring the nation for a liberal answer to Rush Limbaugh and others on the deep bench of Republican friends. By Jim Rutenberg. [New York Times: Politics]
The progressives have let the right rule the airwaves for too long. Troubel is, the so-called conservative story is so much more tailored for the media: it's based on fear, resentment, envy, parochialism, finger-pointing, name calling. That sort of thing boils down so easily in the media. It's going to be harder to tell a progressive story, based on facts and not hysteria. For example, it's a lot easier to say something like "kill the murderers" than it is to look past the revenge to see why capial punishment doesn't work.
