Senators Trade Words Over DeLay Barbs. "I certainly don't want to see Teddy Kennedy in a Navy flight suit." House Majority Leader Tom DeLay used that image in a speech last week as he accused Democrats of a lack of leadership on national security. His joke at the expense of Sen. Edward M. Kennedy, D-Mass., touched off a verbal war Friday. [Associated Press war headlines via GoUpstate.com]
But of course the lie in DeLay's statement is that Kennedy actually served in the Army. DeLay, like most of the other Republicans running the show these days, did not.

Boeing "brain drain" linked to Columbia accident. spacetoday.net: Report A loss of hundreds of highly-trained engineers when Boeing moved offices two years ago may have played a role in the Columbia accident, the Los Angeles Times reported Thursday. In 2001 Boeing shifted space shuttle engineering offices from California to Texas, but about 80% of the 500 employees in California refused to move, forcing Boeing to hire new employees, including many engineers, in Texas. The STS-107 mission was the first time the new Texas office has primary responsibility for the shuttle flight.
