Fair and Balanced Update. A federal judge (who is almost surely soon to be eviscerated by right-wing loonies) just threw out Faux News' trademark... [Carpe Datum - Fair and Balanced]

The judge said he thought it ironic that a media company that should be fighting to protect free speech would seek to undermine the First Amendment. He also said he thought the "fair and balanced" trademark is weak because the phrase is used so often.

Wesley Willis dead at 40 from Leukemia. Wesley Willis: Rock and roll star, artist, poet, movie star and friend to all he met passed away last night from Leukemia at the age of 40. The six foot five, 320 pound Chicago area musician who cut his teeth on the streets selling city landscape drawings and playing music on his tiny Casio keyboard was infamous for his raw insightful songs and ability to draw his audiences into a schizophrenic's take on reality. SETI and the Evolution of Intelligence.

Lori Marino is a professor at Emory University in Atlanta who received a grant from the SETI Institute to start the Study of Life In The Universe (LITU) program. She gives the current status of her research in "The Evolution of Intelligence: An Integral Part of SETI and Astrobiology."
