This Apps of the Year 2004 post at Daring Fireball pointed me to SpamSieve, which I hadn't yet tried. And I'm sorry I hadn't tried it before. I use Apple Mail, and get emails from several different email addresses on several different sites. Some are generic: webmaster@byronhoyt.com, for example, and these kinds of address and spam magnets. For a long time, Apple Mail's junk filtering worked pretty well, but lately I've been spending more and more time cleaning up my inbox every morning. I installed SpamSieve the other day, and what a difference it's made. In the past two days, I've only found a couple of misses in my inbox, and a couple of false positives. It looks like a winner to me, and it works with all the different Mac email clients (one of the many blessings of AppleScript). If you're using a Mac email client, this one is, so far, highly recommended.
