This is odd. A couple weeks ago, in a post called The DDT Hoax, Ted Lambert made a good case for the lack of truth in many claims about DDT in Sri Lanka. It seems to me he pretty much demolished the meme that malaria rates in Sri Lanka dropped to near-zero, then skyrocketed again when they had to give up using DDT. As an example of someone spreading the meme, he quoted an article by Ted Lapkin in Quadrant. Now Lambert is reporting that Lapkin has objected to this quotation someow, and is making legal threats. Writes Lapkin, "I would very much prefer, if possible, to keep things on an informal basis rather than a legal one. Thus this whole misunderstanding can be cleared up by a retraction and apology on your blog. In that event I would see no need to pursue matters further." It's funny, instead of trying to address Lambert's issues of facts, this guy is making other demands, but I certainly don't see anything in the original article that Lambert should apologise for. Strange how some react to criticisms of their work.
