Sharon Tours W. Bank Battle Site. Prime Minister Ariel Sharon toured the scene of the deadliest West Bank fighting Wednesday and said he would press ahead with his military offensive until Palestinian militias have been crushed ÷ despite U.S. pressure to pull back troops and a cease-fire mission by Secretary of State Colin Powell. [AP World News]

In the Jenin camp, dozens of gunmen holed up in a small area fired sporadically Wednesday morning at Israeli troops advancing with bulldozers.

A Hamas leader in the area, Jamal Abdel Salam, said he received a phone call at mid-morning from a member of Hamas' military wing who informed him he and his comrades had run out of ammunition. "This is the last call," Abdel Salam quoted the gunman as saying. "We are in a group inside a house. They (the Israelis) are at the door and they are coming to arrest us. Take care of my family."

Obviously the offensive is working. Good for Sharon!

An interesting offer. Well, what do you know... Israel retreats from two towns, and a suicide bomber goes boom, and near my home... [The news, Uncensored.]

Why doesn't the American goverment understand that what we're doing here is a fight against terror ?

You mean the American government that fought against the Taliban by cozying up to the Pakistani military dictatorship that created the Taliban in the first place? They're not interested in fighting terrorism, to them it's all just an excuse to increase their power.

Nazism in norway?. It looks like we're getting pretty popular in Norway, where Hanna Kvanmo, a woman who aided the Nazis during WWII... [The news, Uncensored.]

A few weeks ago there was a post on a Norwegian's weblog (now lost to a drive error, alas) about how a Norwegian TV news show had reported that Israeli solders under Sharon's command had directly perpetrated the massacres at the refugee camps in Lebanon, and then bulldozed the bodies into mass graves. The poster apparently believed the story.

So it would seem the Norwegian people are receiving their "news" directly from Palestinian propoganda, without any regard for truth.

Pols Roasted Over Pet Pork. Citizens Against Government Waste unveils its latest list of government projects it deems pork. And some members of Congress reveal they consider the group 'psychopaths' and 'a bunch of peckerwoods.' By Declan McCullagh. [Wired News]

The quotes are a nice touch. It's always good to hear what Congress thinks of peasants who get uppity.

Bill banning guns in school zones gets hearing. House Bill 1187 is intended to give police the power to make arrests when students bring guns to school. Sponsors said federal laws are the only law enforcement tool available, but it can take days for federal marshals to respond to a report.

The issue came to light after an incident in Gilford when a student had a gun at school and police could not make an arrest because no state law had been broken. [FirearmNews.com]

The police couldn't arrest someone who didn't break the law? And Congress sees something wrong with that? Strange, it's a little late for an April Fools joke.

Reach Out for the Bill of Rights. The phone rang at Jews for the Preservation of Firearms Ownership in December 2001. A caller ordered dozens of Gran'pa Jack Bill of Rights booklets. Nothing unusual in that. But this caller wasn't a gun-rights activist, a conservative, or a libertarian. She was an avowed political liberal whose main cause was election reform in the wake of Al Gore's presidential defeat. She was organizing a rally whose theme was 'Awake for the Bill of Rights.' And as she said, 'It's all for one and one for all. You can't separate the Bill of Rights and say, 'I want this part, but not that part.'' [FirearmNews.com]

An article about working with people from very different political viewpoints to promote freedom. This has been happening more lately--last year the ACLU and the NRA, among other groups, spoke out against the Drug War.
