US regains UN human rights voice. The United States wins backs its seat at the United Nations Human Rights Commission a year after being voted off for the first time since 1947. [BBC News: world]

When considering the significance of this, it's worth pointing out that other countries getting seats include China, Zimbabwe, and Argentina. Personally, I think we shouldn't be wasting time with their commisions. What do a bunch of European kleptocrats and third world thugs care about human rights, really?

Palestinian fighter describes 'hard fight' in Jenin. (via Renata) "A senior member of Palestinian Islamic Jihad who surrendered to Israeli forces in Jenin described the battle as... [The news, Uncensored.]

Mardawi said he and other Palestinian fighters had expected Israel to attack with planes and tanks. He spoke enthusiastically about Israel's decision to send in infantry.

"It was like hunting ... like being given a prize. I couldn't believe it when I saw the soldiers," he said. "The Israelis knew that any soldier who went into the camp like that was going to get killed."

If the Palestinians had been fighting Americans, they would have gotten bombs and artillery. The whole city would have been flattened without any loss of American life--but with much higher civilian casualties. The Israelis took heavy casualties in order to protect the lives of people who hate them, and as thanks for their efforts they are condemned by the "international community."

UK leads e-Money revolution. E-Day [The Register]

...as long as the issuers of the e-money can meet the capital requirements of one million Euros or 2 percent of the e-money to be issued, they are free to do so.

That sounds an awful lot like a fractional reserve banking system. I'll stick with e-gold, which keeps 100% of the e-gold issued as physical gold in a vault.

Israel Delays U.N. Probe of Jenin. Israeli officials accused the United Nations on Monday of conducting a smear campaign against Israel, as the Israeli Cabinet further delayed the arrival of a U.N. fact-finding mission at the Jenin refugee camp. [AP World News]

This article finally lists who the three UN people are. Two of them are Europeans, one is Japanese. The official quoted in the article also describe the UN as an anti-Israel organization--it's nice to see this pointed out.
