Chinese Navy - A detailed analysis of possible ways China could invade Taiwan.
[nosi News]
One of the possibilities is a staged offensive beginning with islands in the Taiwan Strait. Since the PRC has made no secret of their intention to conquer Taiwan "someday," it's a good idea to keep these possibilities in mind.

Here's another account of government harrassment from a mailing list I subscribe to:
There has been a lot of activity on the boards in the past couple of days about visits from ATF agents. This afternoon around 12:30 the doorbell rang and two ATF agents introduced themselves to my wife. I was sleeping (working the night shift) and was awaken by the bell. I was greeted by two agents in the entrance of my home.
They ask if I owned a .223 and if I owned a 1999 Chevy Van. I affirmed that I owned the .223 but I've never owned a Chevy van. They did not ask the model or make of the .223 but ask me again if I owned or had owned a Chevy van. They also ask my schedule.
They had the VIN of my vehicle which was listed to them as a Chevy Astro van and suggested they check it against my VIN on my 1999 Chevy Lumina. The VIN matched! Their information (probley from Maryland MVA) listed my Lumina as a VAN! Their computer(s) had matched my ownership of a .223 with owning a Chevy van.
Now, how did they know I owned a .223? Are they going to the gunshops and entering the information from the 4477s into a database? Is the FBI keeping a record on all firearm sales with the type, caliber, make, model of the firearm with the purcherser? Are we practicing the "turn in your neighbor" of Nazi Germany? It seems that there is a defacto registeration of firearms somewhere.
I must say the the agents were courtious, not demanding, and professional. I live just outside of the areas that the WDC shooter has been killing folks and work within the area. I *DO* look over my shoulder when at work and stopping in the area. I spoke with members of our local gun club and discovered several members have been visited by other members of the law enforcement community, not necessarly the ATF.
