Michael Bellesiles Resigns from Emory Faculty [Emory University News Release]
There's a link to the report of Emory's investigation into Bellesiles book, Arming America. It's rather long and dry, but to summarize: they couldn't prove he deliberately falsified his book, but if he didn't it just means he's completely and hopelessly incompetent. Although the release says he resigned, that won't fool too many people--it's a standard thing people say when a VIP is fired.

A former co-worker pointed out this Mac OS "switch" ad. It's a really funny spoof of the ads Apple has been running for OS X.

NY Times: "Investigators confirmed that the car in which they were arrested early [yesterday] morning contained the weapon used in the killings, a .223-caliber telescopic rifle." [Scripting News]
Incompetent mainstream media strikes again. What is a "telescopic rifle?" Does the barrel collapse in on itself, like a car antenna?
The article does include this paragraph, which seems to confirm the implication inherent in the shooter's last name:
But law enforcement officials said tonight that one theory they were pursuing was that at least one of the suspects hated the United States, and that his hate might have been inflamed by the Sept. 11 attacks.
Mr. Muhammad made "angry statements about the United States," a senior law enforcement official said tonight, and "many statements indicating that he sympathized with the 9/11 hijackers, according to witnesses who knew him."
"He said things like, `The United States had it coming to them,' " the official said.
