My Scary Return to the US. I had a wonderful trip to Malaysia to attend the Perdana Global Peace Forum. While in Malaysia, I had no snags or run-ins with any authorities.

This was not the case on my return to the US.

I don't think I look much like a terrorist. Despite my utter contempt for them, I am always careful to be exceptionally courteous and cooperative with police and bureaucrats who can make decisions that effect my future.

I went through the main line at US customs at San Francisco... [Antiwar.com Blog]

An account of the author's run-in with the Gestapo at an airport, which (ironically) turned out okay apparently because of the Gestapo agent's ignorance.

TPM Chip to End Internet Anonymity. One of the great appeals and dangers of the internet has been its anonymity, but that is going to change. By the end of the decade, all PCs will have the Trusted Platform Module (TPM) security chip, which will provide nearly foolproof verification of your identity.

The TPM chip assigns a unique, permanent identifier, which can't be changed, to every computer before it leaves the factory. So far, twenty million computers have the TPM chip. Most of them have been sold to large corporations for securing their networks. Starting in 2006, they will be installed in many consumer models.

What does this mean to privacy advocates. Unless you just recently bought a computer, I recommend buying the best computer that you can afford as soon as possible because you will want to keep it for awhile. A TPM-chipped computer will end your anonymity on the internet. By noemail@noemail.org (Michael Paladin). [Police State USA]

I haven't seen any coverage of this.
