Only 20 minutes left...
I am excited. In 20 minutes I will sit down for the first run of Babylon 5: The Legend of the Rangers. My favorite TV series will have spawned another movie and I am really excited. Here's hoping it gets picked up as a series...mj

Linux users start web petition to stop AOL
AOL Time Warner Inc. is in talks to buy Red Hat Inc, a prominent distributor of a computer operating system, an acquisition that would position the media giant to challenge arch rival Microsoft Corp., according to sources familiar with the matter. [MSNBC]
...this is a really weird story. I think it's a 'get the money out of the deal' thing for Red Hat investors. As with all AOL buyouts, this will kill Red Hat, but it will make MS sweat. Imagine AOL with a real threat to the MS monopoly. It's very scary...of course the one advantage MS would have, is that AOL is the only company that can screw up software more then MS can.
Yes, the petition line is a joke, and a stupid one. I would bet money (if my last employer would pay me) that somewhere there is a Lingeek working to get one started. Give me a break, as if it would matter...mj

The Train still stops here...
If you havn't read it, you should...here is the text, to the book that sparked ten thousand arguments...The Cluetrain Manifesto...I think the book is a little naive at times, but it also points out so many of the fallacies in mordern marketing...companies do such a bad job listening...in fact, listening is almost impossible for most companies...just look at the entertainment industry...mj

Arthur Andersen's credibility in doubt
Arthur Andersen's accounting contracts with many Fortune 500 companies are due for routine review soon --- but the Enron debacle shows that the outcome may not be so routine this year. [Seattle Times]
...no lie...think this might put a crimp on business...talk about a PR mess...talk about being 'knee-deep'...serves them right.
This is a classic tale of everyone trying to catch a ride on the tail of a rising star and then geting burned on the downside. It would be a dustbin story, if it were not for the shady accounting, the misleading statements and the outright lies on the backside of the whole mess...mj
