Some lessons come hard...
...sometimes you just have to dig in. I spent hours over the past two days working on a new template. Trying to figure out how this is all put together. One thing I did figure out is - never - never -never let BBEdit reformat your code. This will do bad things to the macros. I am curious to see if the same thing would happen with HomeSite...by the way, there are at least 4-5 more themes coming based on this basic look...mj

AOL's Netscape sues Microsoft

...interesting news...AOL sees a wounded animal in MS...hostile courts at every turn...just one more step...AOL seeks traction...a deal that gives them what they could not negotiate out of MS...pretty slick move...problem is that MS can't afford to lose this case...it would open the floodgates for competitors...so rich and so screwed...mj

Why Courier?...
I have posted a link to my new Beowulf theme. The design is directly taken from my personal web site. I think it will be a love it or hate it kind of thing. I am planning to release other designs based on this pattern
So, you ask, why Courier? I have gotten tired of the fact that Verdana had taken over everything. Text is also part of the art of design and fonts are the tool. Just about every site you go to these days is either Verdana or Arial. It's not that these are bad fonts (well Arial pretty much sucks), it's just that it's so damn limiting. there are thousands of fonts and we are still stuck with about 6 that we can really use. That is, unless you want to stick graphics in place of every piece of text. Of course that violates the whole purpose of the web.
It irritates me as an aesthetic issue, it irritates me as an emotional issue. This many years into the web and we still can't do fonts the way they were meant to be done...mj

Another day...
...drinking coffee, no sucking it down. I can hardly wait to get paid so I can buy some real beans...
Almost 400 hits yesterday! I was facinated to watch the data as the hits rose over the course of the day. I spent the last 7-8 hours working on a new template for Radio 8. This is the result. More on this later...(posted my font rant - why courier?)...mj
