Mac vs. PC III Benchmark DuelDell has just introduced a new workstation featuring the latest Intel Pentium 4 3.06GHz processor with hyperthreading and faster PC1066 RDRAM. Accordingly, we decided it was time for another Mac vs. PC duel, created especially for digital video editors and compositors. So we got our hands on one of those new 3.06GHz Dell boxes and the fastest Mac on the market, fired up our trusty After Effects 5.5 and Photoshop 7.0 benchmarks on both of them, and man oh man, you won't believe what happened this time. It was just downright startling.

This simply supports the fact that Apple has a serious problem. It continues to fall further and further behind the technology curve. We just got DDR RAM, something that has been in the PC world for several years. Our bus runs at 133 mhz, while the P4 is blitzing along at 533. Can someone please let Steve Jobs know that waiting is no longer an option. It needs to be fixed, and fixed sooner then later. Would it really be so bad to put the platform on an AMD or Intel processor? The Dell won with almost two times the performance, at a price point over $600 cheaper. It did it with quality parts and a bland case. Apple better find it's Mojo, and find it quick!...mj
