Dozens killed in Miss World riots Dozens have been killed in northern Nigeria in rioting that erupted after a newspaper suggested the Prophet Mohammad would have approved of the Miss World beauty contest. The death toll in the town of Kaduna was an estimated 105 with a further 521 injured taken to hospital, aid workers said on Friday...more [CNN] One of the things I find interesting about religion is the ease at which belivers seem to be able to kill others. Why is it that religion is such a powerful tool for our hatred of those who are not like us? It is a question that haunted me since I sat in the pews so many years ago. It is one of the reasons I have never been able to latch onto any specific faith. So much of it is in the image of man. Our attempts to define a concept as complex as God only leads us back to ourselves. We are not the center of the Universe, just one small speck in the corner of an obscure arm of a rather ordinary galaxy, lost in a sea of billions of galaxies.
