Prague 1791
We finally arrived. What the hell is it with these new carriages? Lousy suspension.
Anyway, I have a few days before the premier of La Clemenza di Tito,
my latest opera. I'm still tweaking and fussing, as always. Should the
aria about the Great Dane and the Chiwawa stay in? It got big laughs
from my friends in Vienna, but you know how stuffy royalty can be.
I'll ask Rudolpho. He was the one who advised me to cut the kazoo bit out of Die Zauberflöte, and, though I hate to admit it, he was probably right.
The hotel is as I remember - clean, good schnitzel, with very
attractive staff. I had a joke with the girl at reception when we
checked in and Constanze has been looking daggers at me ever since.
Perhaps a nice meal this evening will bring her round. She's a great
girl. A bit high maintenance, obviously, but great.
Anyway, I may be posting less frequently for the next few days, what
with needing to polish up the final act, and the premier and everything.
I'll let you know how it goes.
