Court of Public Opinion
I think we've just witnessed one of the first cases of the power of weblogging as a court of public opinion. In this case, Erin lost, but it probably saved him lots of time and money. I think it got bigger, faster, then either he or this roller guy imagined. The commentary from so many different weblogs is fascinating: some hate it, others are intrigued.
Peace.

That post cannot be the last post in the Weblogger.com vs. Roller story.  Erin apologized.  I need to say this: I accept Erin's apology.  We all make mistakes.  Erin is proud of his business and is overprotective, generally speaking that is a very good thing.  From all accounts I have read, Weblogger.com is a great company and deserves the support of the weblogging community. Another issue to consider is this: if you don't know what all this is about, you have to reverse thru all the links to get the backstory. Now that (!) is interactive storytelling!

There Is No SPAM In The Bloggosphere
Because it's pull, the destination chooses the source. Email is push, and thus source chooses its destination, sometimes without d's consent.

System-Level Blogging API
Would it make sense to have a OS system-level blogging API that any client app could incorporate, much as it uses a Print API to print documents? A blogging print driver? A blogging print driver could be used to post an image to the blog, with notes and category info. But a blogging API could offer a primitive set of blogger data types (image, text, link, list,... that sounds like xhtml. oh well, it started out like a good idea.

I suppose if every app started savings its content as XML documents, then you could use XSTL to transform any document into a weblog rss feed...

The Virtual Artists Studio
These are the tools I need, and for which I cannot find current products that meet my needs:
  • desktop multimedia blogging tool
  • multimedia version tracking system
  • Reason 2.0 + audio tracks
  • more automated photo management system
  • very automated video management system

    multimedia blogging
Next step is to put the actual recordings right here. I'm thinking of writing a content versioning system using j2ee. for any given song, say "desire", I can check in new versions of that song as I record them on various practice nights. I can then quickly find versions of a song on the version tracking system, but I can also post perma-links to specific checkins right here in my blog.

This is more than just audio blogging, which and gang are currently exploring. This is using my blog as a running showcase for my artistic endeavors as they grow. the audio may be raw recordings, or more produced pieces. God that scares me!
